The username's sort of a rip-off of the "ambiguously gay" phrase. The thing with Ren & Stimpy (and a some other cartoon couples), though, is that due to them being in a children's show the character's have to be known as friends (which I assume is because the network heads couldn't handle an actual homosexual couple yet) despite how they act toward each other. And jUST GOD, IT FEELS SO TONGUE-IN-CHEEK SOMETIMES WHEN THEY ONLY CALL EACH OTHER "BUDDIE" OR "PAL". So, yeah, the username is really sarcastic.
Obviously it doesn't so much apply to the Adult Party Cartoon because they had more freedom and that's all fine and dandy.
